NEW COMPASS® DIGITAL PRESSURE MONITOR FROM CENTURION MEDICAL PRODUCTS PROVIDES PRECISE READING OF PHYSIOLOGICAL PRESSURE IN SECONDS

Sterile, single-use device allows physicians and clinicians to quickly and accurately obtain quantifiable pressure measurements, saving time and lives

WILLIAMSTON, Mich., — (April 28th, 2016) — Today Centurion Medical Products, a leader in global patient care and product innovation, officially launched a unique alternative to cabled pressure transduction setups and old fashioned manometers. The compact, easy-to-use Compass® device ensures precise, quantitative pressure measurement for central line insertion, central venous pressure for sepsis management, lumbar puncture opening pressure and compartment pressure.

The family of Compass pressure transducer devices helps healthcare teams reduce patient risk in critical situations by preventing inadvertent arterial cannulation and expediting assessment of sepsis, bacterial meningitis and compartment syndrome.

“The difference between Compass and other tools on the market is its intuitive, advanced technology. The electronic device is precise and simple to use,” stated Tom Archipley, President and CEO, Centurion Medical Products. “Compass gives the clinician pressure data quickly and conveniently. It provides a faster treatment path and confirmation of success in critical or life-threatening situations such as sepsis or placing a central venous catheter. It can avoid high risk errors such as mistakenly missed compartment syndrome.”

According to the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, sepsis is the most expensive condition treated in U.S.
hospitals, costing more than $20 billion in 2011, increasing on average annually by 11.9% 1

Compass, providing objective and quantifiable physiological pressure measurement, is a simple solution to healthcare facilities’ sepsis protocols and campaigns.

Compass features include:
• Sterile, single-use, easy attachment
• Instant auto-calibration for precise readings
• Intuitive use simplifies training and decreases nursing burden
• Quantitative data displayed for use in EMR documentation

Compass digital pressure monitors are available throughout the U.S. and global markets, and are on contract with all Veteran’s Administration hospitals and Federal Government facilities serving their patients.

CENTURION MEDICAL PRODUCTS ACQUIRES NUVOMED INC. AND DISIMPACTOR® SYSTEM

WILLIAMSTON, Mich., — (January 26, 2016) — Centurion Medical Products, a leader in global patient care and product innovation, today announced the acquisition of NuvoMed Inc., the manufacturer of the DisImpactor®, an innovative, class 1 FDA registered medical device for the treatment of fecal impaction.
“Centurion’s mission is to provide customers and patients with the most innovative, efficient and effective medical products on the market,” said Tom Archipley, CEO of Centurion Medical Products. “Patient safety and comfort are very important to us. The DisImpactor is much more effective and comfortable than digital disimpaction and ought to become the standard of care, as adopted by the Alabama Board of Nursing in 2015. In leveraging our national sales force, our purchase of NuvoMed will make the DisImpactor much more widely available to hospitals, palliative and hospice care centers across America.”
The DisImpactor, designed by an ED physician, is a single-use system for the adult population that offers rapid relief and resolution of fecal impaction. Fecal impaction is a common occurrence in the elderly and oncology patients. The emergency department and hospice care represent the primary markets. In a market survey of hospice nurses, conducted by NuvoMed Inc., 64 percent noted they encounter patients with fecal impactions (FI) at least once per week. The key to the system is an easy to use hand-held device that breaks up the impaction more effectively and less painfully than digital disimpaction.

CENTURION MEDICAL PRODUCTS ENTERS PARTNERSHIP TO SUPPLY YANKEE ALLIANCE MEMBERS COMPREHENSIVE SUITE OF CATHETER SECUREMENT PRODUCTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 25, 2015 — WILLIAMSTON, Mich., — Centurion Medical Products, a leader in vascular access products, today announced a new three-year contract with Yankee Alliance to offer its 12 thousand plus healthcare members the patented “all-in-one” SorbaView SHIELD® Securement System along with a comprehensive suite of unique catheter securement and stabilization products.

A recently published article in the Journal of Infusion Nursing mentions that more than 300 million peripheral IV catheters are sold each year in the United States alone, and 60 to 90 percent of hospitalized patients require an IV catheter during their hospital stay. The article also states that “35% to 50% of those catheters fail.” These failures can reflect poorly on patient satisfaction, which can lead to penalties under the CMS-administered Value-Based Purchasing program.

“When Yankee Alliance members utilize Centurion’s SorbaView SHIELD® Securement System they will quickly realize a decrease in clinicians’ time spent restarting IVs. In a study, the SHIELD product lasted out to 96 hours or until the PIV was discontinued in 91% of patients. That is a significant improvement in quality of care and reduction in cost of care. Our partnership with leaders in healthcare such as Yankee Alliance signals Centurion is recognized as an innovator in providing results that lower costs, reduce risk, and help to avoid fines associated with the PPACA,” said Tom Archipley, CEO of Centurion Medical Products.

The SHIELD is less expensive than other securement devices on the market and 86% of nurses are satisfied with its performance. There was also an average annual cost savings of $120,000 over the two-piece device and improved compliance by nursing.

Craig Shoukimas, Vice President Contracting, Yankee Alliance says, “Our members are always looking for innovative products to reduce and eliminate hospital-acquired infections. With Centurion’s SHIELD system, they not only get proven results, but increased patient satisfaction and cost savings in return.”

CENTURION MEDICAL PRODUCTS AND MEDLINE INDUSTRIES, INC. ANNOUNCE SALES AGREEMENT TO EXPAND SORBAVIEW SHIELD SECUREMENT DRESSINGS TO U.S. ACUTE HOSPITAL MARKET

WILLIAMSTON, Mich., — (April 21, 2015) — Healthcare industry leaders Centurion Medical Products and Medline Industries, Inc. have entered into a sales agreement that leverages the performance excellence of Centurion’s SorbaView SHIELD® Securement System catheter dressings with Medline’s kitting and distribution capabilities. The alignment of both companies’ sales forces simplifies the process for U.S. customers to order SorbaView SHIELD in Medline sterile kits.

The SorbaView SHIELD combines the proven performance of Centurion’s patented SorbaView dressings with its proprietary SHIELD securement technology. This results in one easy-to-apply product that stays in place to protect the site and reduce dressing disruptions while securing and stabilizing the catheter. SorbaView SHIELD is clinically proven to reduce unscheduled PIV restarts by up to 91 percent.1

The demand for the SHIELD’s superior performance has been unprecedented. Many of the major hospital systems in the U.S. already use Centurion’s patented SHIELD dressings to secure catheter sites. To meet the rapidly growing demand and give customers more flexibility, Centurion is partnering with a select group of the top U.S. kit packers to include the SHIELD in their sterile trays. Medline has been selected as the first of these partnerships.

Tom Archipley, CEO of Centurion Medical Products, commented, “We are extremely pleased with our agreement with Medline. Our partnership will allow a larger number of U.S. hospitals to have access to the SHIELD in their kits. SorbaView SHIELD dramatically improves catheter site security and integrity resulting in fewer catheter complications and dressing disruptions. This reduces infection risk and the amount of poking and prodding a patient needs to endure, so patient satisfaction goes up and costs go down. Through the joint efforts of our exceptional sales forces, more patients, caregivers and hospitals will get to realize these benefits.”

“For nearly 30 years, our companies have competed and grown in the marketplace,” said Dante Tisci, division president, Medline. “Through this unique collaboration with Centurion Medical Products, we can provide even greater kitting capabilities to our customers by leveraging the collective strength of both companies and their sales forces.”
